Membership, at £30, is excellent value as it includes DBS clearance and insurance, which would be an additional £48.

Warwickshire Level 1A Umpiring Course

This course is aimed at umpires who wish to progress to the League panel and is not examination-based. Level 1 qualification and relevant experience are prerequisites. A candidate must have completed at least one season of umpiring. You will be required to complete and submit a minimum of 3 match planners, self assessment reports and external assessment reports from captains and officials for games in which you have stood.

The course consists of three sessions, two before the season starts and one after the season has concluded.

The two pre-season sessions are full day, interactive workshops, used to revise and build, with a very practical emphasis, on the Laws covered in the Level 1 course. Candidates will discuss the major activities for which umpires are responsible, before, during and after a match, enabling them to develop shared good practice aids, which they can apply in the forthcoming season. They will also be introduced to the in-season documentation they will need to complete for their portfolio of achievement.

The post-season session consists of a professional discussion with the County Performance Officer (CPO). The CPO will review each candidate’s portfolio of course workbook, match planners, self assessments and external assessment reports to ensure good understanding has been achieved and that the candidate is umpiring at the required standard.

An ECB ACO Level 1A Certificate is awarded to candidates on successful completion and discussion of their course workbook and practical experience. The course fee includes all course materials, workshops, assessments and certification. The course fee for 2015 will be £75.

The course will be run on Sundays, 8th and 22nd March at the Warwickshire County Cricket Club in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
