Warwickshire Cricket Board are delighted to announce that Birmingham Premier League club Knowle and Dorridge are our latest club in the county to sign up as an ECB Champion Club. This will mean they have an inclusive offer for all participants to come and enjoy cricket. Alongside this we can announce the introduction of a new Lords Taverners Super 1’s hub will be starting at Knowle and Dorridge Cricket Club from Monday 24th April. These will mean free cricket sessions for disabled players to come and learn the game of cricket, whilst being active and making new friends along the way.

Knowle and Dorridge are a club, synonymous with cricket in Birmingham and Solihull. They have a rich tradition of bringing players through from juniors all the way through to adult and representative cricket. It will be exciting to see if we get more players with disabilities rising through the ranks. They are a fantastic club and we are delighted that they decided to come onboard and help us extend our reach in the community. I’m delighted that the club saw what we have created at Edgbaston with our Super 1’s and Warwickshire Access teams along with our work in Coventry with Bablake and the Coventry Super 1’s hub and wanted to be the next club to join in!

Rob Eynon

Disability Cricket Development Officer, Warwickshire Cricket Board

We are thrilled to become a Champion Club and Super 1s Hub for the Solihull area, working closely with Warwickshire Cricket Board, Lords Taverners, and the ECB. We have seen first-hand how valuable these Hubs are, so we jumped at the chance to get involved. We made a clear Clubmark commitment to expand our cricket offer and programmes, and these Hubs are a way of achieving this. We’re hoping we can draw on our experience and success of running the largest All Stars programmes in Warwickshire and our ever expanding Women and Girls’ programme.

Ensuring our cricket programmes and facilities are as accessible and inclusive is incredibly important, and we can’t wait to get started.

Adam Harrison

Club Secretary, Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club

The Super 1s programme is all about inclusion, and empowering young people facing inequalities. A key part of that is giving young people with disabilities a platform to showcase what they can achieve in non-disabled settings, and it’s fantastic that this new Super 1s hub will be supported by Knowle and Dorridge CC.
