Over the last two decades the ECB have devoted a lot of time and effort to help boost the growth of the Women’s game throughout the country. This focus has resulted in a massive transformation with more than 600 clubs now offering cricket to women and girls nationwide.
Women’s & Girls’ Domestic programme 2015
Divisions 1 and 2 in both the Royal London 50 over and NatWest T20 competitions will be run with coloured clothing and white ball in 2015. The County programme will be extended to run through the International period for 2015. This has resulted in three One-Day fixture dates and two T20 rounds being scheduled within the 16 July – 31 August 2015 international period.
The Royal London Women’s One Day Cup will commence on Sunday 3 May and the league programme will conclude on Sunday 13 September.
The NatWest Women’s County T20 will run on Sunday 14 June, Sunday 5 July, Sunday 2 August and Sunday 16 August.
NatWest Women’s County T20
The NatWest Women’s County T20 for Divisions 1, 2 and 3 will be run on a league basis across the four fixture dates listed above. On each date three counties will play a round robin at one venue (i.e. two matches per day for each team). This is a change from 2014 where there were 3 days of T20 (1 x 2 day and 1 x 1 day) and it was not a true league structure (i.e. teams did not all play each other once).
Royal London Women’s One-Day Cup Fixtures
For Division 1 fixtures the ECB have elected to start the fixture process with a clean slate, and ensure that all counties play four home and four away matches during the course of the season. This may lead to some Counties not having their fixture against specific opposition reversed from 2014, but provides all counties with a balanced fixture programme for the forthcoming season. Similarly in Division 2 the fixtures have been amended to ensure that all Counties, with the exception of Scotland and Ireland, are playing five home and three away fixtures.
