The Chance to Shine Programme is an integral part of the Warwickshire Cricket Board’s strategic plan to strengthen cricket and club/school partnerships across the county. We share their belief that cricket brings people from all walks of life together and teaches life skills that will stay with them forever. All young people should get the chance to play it, learn from it and enjoy it! The Chance to Shine scheme is funded by the Cricket Foundation and was first launched in 2005.
Chance to Shine are on a mission to spread the power of cricket throughout schools and Communities. They take cricket to new places and use it to ignite new passions, teach vital skills, unite diverse groups and educate young people from Cornwall to Cardiff to County Durham.
Over two million boys and girls in over 11,000 state schools are playing and learning through cricket thanks to the Chance to Shine Schools programme. Their funding supports the free element of our affiliation allowing us to provide high quality coaching and value for money with every session.
During December 2014 and January 2015 the WCB have been visiting numerous schools around the county with England Women’s cricket star Tammy Beaumont. Tammy support’s with coaching, training teachers and delivering assemblies has been outstanding. Her enthusiasm and love for the game has seen her become an immensely popular figure within various schools around Warwickshire. She has offered expert advice to children, signed countless autographs and answered hundreds of questions. We are very grateful for all her help and are pleased to say that she will continue to play a major role in the development of cricket in schools throughout Warwickshire.
