Edgbaston Parents Guide for Holiday Camps

The Warwickshire Cricket Board (WCB) run various cricket coaching programmes during the following school holiday periods;

  • October half-term
  • Christmas
  • February half-term
  • Easter
  • Whitsun
  • Summer

These Programmes are delivered by our very own team of highly skilled full and part-time coaches, with the aim of providing great value for money, as well as high quality cricket coaching for all the young participants. The courses provide the perfect opportunity for parents who are looking to keep their children active during the holidays or for children who are looking to get involved in cricket, develop their game or simply to have some fun!

The Coaches aim to cover all the essential elements of the modern game through various skills, drills and enjoyable games. They understand that no player is the same and endeavour to use a combination of coaching methods, technical feedback and encouragement throughout the sessions. It is important to note that our holiday coaching programmes are not elite programmes; they are grass root provisions.

Weather

All of our Sports Camps are at risk of varied weather conditions. It is our aim at all times to provide top quality coaching and training in a safe and protected environment. We try to conduct our sessions outside whenever possible (depending on venue) and strongly recommend that all attendees bring waterproofs, and a spare of clothes in the event of bad weather.

  • In the event of adverse weather conditions, our coaches will put first the welfare of our attendees at all times. This may involve moving to indoor spaces temporarily, before returning when the conditions pass over
  • For continued weather conditions we may use ‘theoretical work’ within indoor facilities.
  • Some of our courses take place outside, in the event of hot weather there will be frequent breaks during the activity to take drinks in the shade. You should ensure that your child is dressed for the weather conditions (i.e. caps etc.) Your child can also bring sun cream although they will be expected to apply it themselves.
  • Please ensure that your child has suitable clothing for wet weather, as it may not always be possible to go inside & in slight drizzle the activity will continue outside.
