PREVIEW OF WOMEN’S BIG CRICKET MONTH – COME AND JOIN THE FUN!

June is Women’s Big Cricket Month. We will be celebrating women and girls’ cricket throughout June and beyond, to grow the women’s and girls’ games further in Warwickshire. Here is a preview of the events we can all look forward to as part of Women’s Big Cricket Month. This list will grow as we get further into June, so keep checking our website and social media for updates. Whether you have a team to enter or just want to come along to watch and find out more, you will receive a warm welcome at our participating cricket clubs.

“I am delighted Women’s Big Cricket Month has come so soon after my arrival at the Warwickshire Cricket Board,” says Gabby Basketter, WCB’s Women & Girls’ Officer. “We have all spent a long time indoors, away from friends and family, so what better way to get back to fun and fitness by participating in one of our women and girls’ cricket festivals? Our clubs would love to see you at one of these events – as a player, a spectator, a volunteer or an official. Come and join the fun.”

In addition to these Women’s Big Cricket Month events, there will also be regular softball and hardball club fixtures across the county. The U13 and U15 hardball leagues for girls and the West Midlands Cricket League will continue throughout June and the rest of the summer. Our aim is to give girls and women from all parts of our community the opportunity to focus on their emotional and physical wellbeing as we emerge from lockdown. For many, the emphasis will be on participation and fun, but there will also be a clear route for those who would like to make the step into more competitive cricket.
