Hillcrest School wins the first ever Glow in the Dark Festival!
Yesterday saw our end of Glow in the Dark programme festival held at Saltley Academy with girls from 3 schools Saltley Academy, Bordesley Green Girls and Hillcrest School taking part. The Glow in the Dark Programme has consisted of a 10-week after school girls programme at the 3 schools followed by Glow in the Dark Festival.
The festival was a day of competitive continuous Cricket games in a unique setting of being in the dark with illuminating bats, bibs, head banes, wrist bands, glitter and face paint.
The day started with the participants taking part in Bhangra to warm up. This followed by each team playing 3 group games. Having won all the group games, Hillcrest B and Bordesley Green Girls A progressed to the final. Bordesley Green A opted to bat first after winning the toss and scored an impressive score of 71 in their 10-minute round. Hillcrest Girls in reply got off to a shaky start but recovered brilliantly and finished on 72 runs in their 10-minute round claiming the title!
Warwickshire Cricket Board would like to thank the schools for participating in the 10-week programme, and Saltley Academy for hosting an incredible day of Cricket.
It was a fantastic day not just for Cricket, but also to see all the participants supporting each other throughout the day!
